Our project is focused on investigating the development of African cities towards sustainable and equitable urbanism through interdisciplinary co-productions. We recognize that the development of cities in Africa presents significant challenges, including rapid population growth, inadequate infrastructure, and environmental degradation, among others. Through this project, we seek to better understand these challenges and identify ways to promote sustainable and equitable urban development across the continent.
To achieve our objectives, we have assembled a team of experts in various fields, led by Dr. Mennatullah Hendawy based in Cairo. With her expertise in urban planning and sustainability, Dr. Hendawy is responsible for driving the project forward and ensuring that our research is conducted in a rigorous and interdisciplinary manner. Our team includes researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from across Africa and beyond, who are committed to working collaboratively to advance our understanding of sustainable urban development in Africa.
By bringing together a diverse group of experts from different fields, we aim to foster innovative thinking and identify new solutions to the challenges facing African cities. We believe that through our interdisciplinary approach, we can generate knowledge that is both relevant and actionable, and that can help policymakers and practitioners design and implement sustainable urban development strategies that are tailored to the unique context of each city in Africa.
